This episode is an intro into Psychodrama with one of my favorite clinicians I’ve ever met, Stephanie Coker LCSW LCDC CDWF. Psychodrama is a therapeutic approach that allows the client to physically engage in the counseling process. Stephanie gives us a great introduction on what Psychodrama is, how her background in improv influenced her work, and the benefits of this approach. Since the first day I opened my private practice in February 2017, I’ve been asked why I chose the onion as my logo. Today we discuss how the onion represents the different systems we live in and how each layer plays a role in our life.

Suicide has been more and more in the news in the past month and we’re lucky enough to have an incredible non-profit organization who is doing something about it. This episode, we are joined by Foundation 45. It was created in honor of two of the the three founding members of the incredible band Spectre 45 who committed suicide.
We’re joined by Lauren O’Connor, Peter Thomas PH.D, and Jen Sturges. They share their experiences with suicide, misconceptions, warning signs, and how Foundation 45 is making a difference.

We go back to school with Our Lady of the Lake University Houston! I was proud to sit down with the Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English) Practicum Team and pick their brain about being a psychology student on their way to becoming a fully licensed clinician.
Visit Our Lady of the Lake University Houston to learn more about the program and admissions.
The Houston-Galveston Institute continues to serve the Houston area and if you aren’t in need of services, please consider donating as they have remained a non-profit giving to the community.
Also, I was proud to be featured on La Verdad Podcast last week about mental health. Check out my interview and subscribe to their show.
Big shows coming up soon so stay tuned! And as always, remember to #FeedYourMentalHealth.

I want you to think of the first word that comes to mind when you hear “addiction.” What was it? Junkie. Drunk. Bum. Waste. Pain.
Unless you have some personal history or an awareness of the community, usually the word “addiction” is followed by something negative. But, for some reason, we don’t have the same sentiments when it comes to other chronic diseases such as diabetes or cancer.
This episode is an introduction into the world of addiction and how it is perceived by society. Please know that we could spend multiple episodes on this topic alone so we this will definitely be something we come back to. In the meantime, please send me any questions you have in regards to addiction at ChubbyTherapyPod@gmail.com.
Also, this episode introduces my new segment called Analyze My Meme! Below is the first one:
I found this on social media and am asking you a huge favor to help me gather more pictures, memes, inspirational posts that you want me to therapeutically analyze. Email them to me with the subject line #AMM.
Great to be back, I hope you’re enjoying the new format and we have some special episodes coming up this month so stay tuned. And remember to feed your mental health!
